Should you build “world-changing companies” or sell early? We’ll chat with Rand Fishkin about his M&A journey, from turning down Hubspot M&A offer to the flip side of the Moz M&A process.
Rand Fishkin co-founded Moz, growing it from a Mom-and-son marketing agency into one of the premier SEO products in the world. He’s also the author of Lost and Founder, the not-so-fairytale story of his rise and fall at Moz.
Focused on changing the narrative for founders and startups, Rand has been through the M&A process three times: refusing a $25M offer from Hubspot in 2011, failing to sell later, and eventually, the new CEO selling Moz for an undisclosed amount. Today, he runs SparkToro, an audience search engine for marketers and Snackbar Studio, an indie gaming company, each built to avoid the grow-or-die Silicon Valley culture.
To ensure meaningful discussion for everyone involved, we’re restricting live seating to 30 founders with $1M+ raised or with $1M in profit. However, everyone who registers will receive a full recording of the conversation afterwards.
